Hello there!
Welcome to Mid North Midwifery – I’m so glad you’re here and I’d love to tell you about myself.
I am a Registered Midwife with over a decade of experience working with Mothers, Babies and Families. All of that time has been spent working within the hospital system, in a variety of areas including Antenatal, Postnatal, Birthing, Special Care and more recently, Midwifery Group Practice (otherwise known as MGP).
I started out in Sydney, which is where I am originally from. After completing my studies and a wonderful and supportive New Grad year at Manly/Mona Vale Hospital, I made the exciting and daunting journey out west, to Broken Hill (Far West NSW). Broken Hill became home for me for the next 8 years and it’s where I really blossomed into the Midwife I am today. It’s also where I met my amazing partner Ryan, and where we began our beautiful family. We recently made the move back to the coast (although a little further north) and we have happily settled in at Port Macquarie (Mid North Coast of NSW).
My passion is normal, physiological birth and I truly believe that most of the time, we as Midwives just need to keep out of the way and let birth unfold as it needs to. So many times I have witnessed things take a turn in the wrong direction due to an interference of some kind by (usually) well-meaning care providers. After working for such a long time in the system, I’m really excited to move forward and work in a way that allows me to express myself and my passion for Midwifery.
Although I would love to be offering homebirth, unfortunately with such a young family, the on-call lifestyle is not right for me at this time. However, I’m looking forward to providing the women of Port Macquarie and surrounds with alternative options for Pregnancy and Postnatal care. I have many ideas and will start out slowly – if there’s something you need that I don’t offer – please reach out! I’d love to hear from you about what you’re looking for in a service.
At this stage I will be offering private Antenatal and Postnatal care in your own home – I am a Medicare Eligible Midwife, so this service may be subject to Medicare rebates – we can discuss this relevant to your situation. I’m also able to prescribe necessary medications on PBS and order any diagnostic tests you wish to have (bloods, scans and NIPT) relevant to your pregnancy. I will also be offering:
Acuneedling (which will be explained in my next blog post)
TENS machine hire
Library loan books
Pregnancy Education
Baby-wearing Education
Birth trauma debriefing
I really look forward to meeting and working with you. Please reach out if you have any questions or suggestions for me.
Much love and good vibes, Carly
How lucky the Mid North Coast is to score you!
It is so wonderful for women to have alternative options for their care, and on their own terms. My husband and I found you to be such a calming presence during and after birth and I love that you are always willing to take the time to share and offer knowledge – it’s obvious you love what you do.
Top notch midwife
